Fisheye-Nikkor 6mm f/2.8 lens - Not for D40 !


You are looking at one of the most gorgeous looking lens in 35mm SLR photography - a lens that can actually see behind itself !

And I think this is one of the few that Cannot be used on the D40. It is one of those obtrusive fisheye's.

Few lenses that cannot be used on the D40? Nearly every Nikon lens cannot be used on the D40/D40X/D60 because they lack motor drives. These cameras can only take Nikon DX lenses specifically made for digital.

You are full of shit. Most all nikon lenses can be used on D40/D40x, except for their AF features...

Auto-focus will NOT work on lenses requiring mechanical drive, howver, the lens itself can be used just fine.

This article is referring to the internal mechanics of the lens, which extend too far back INTO the camera for the D40 to handle.

While you can put the older F-mount lenses on the camera, you cannot internally meter with anything in the D40-90 range. You have to take the picture and then see how it looks, change the aperature on the ring and adjust shutter speed and try again. So technically it fits, but its not very useful :(.

Don't rush to be so sure about things with such stern language. Your broadcasting near as much ignoarnce as the above post.
