The Nikon AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR lens features Nikon's Vibration Reduction (VR) optical image stabilization technology.

The compact 3x zoom is designed for use with Nikon's DX-format digital SLRs and is included in several camera kits.

In addition to providing image stabilization, the lens uses hybrid aspherical elements to minimize chromatic aberration, Nikon's Super Integrated Coating for reducing lens flare and ghosting, and a Silent Wave Motor (SWM) for quick and quiet autofocus.

The 9.3 oz. lens has a close focus distance of 0.9 ft. at all focal lengths. The AF-S DX Nikkor 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6G VR will be available in December 2007 with a MSRP of $199....More Info Here

The $250 Nikon Wonder!

AF-S Zoom-Nikkor ED 55-200mm f/4-5.6G DX and DX VR Lenses

The immediate question everyone asks is if an inexpensive telephoto zoom AF-S lens can be any good.

I'll save you from scrolling down to the performance section: the original was not quite as good as everyone was hoping for, but it's pretty darned decent other than focus speed.

The updated version pushes only a bit further, but the addition of VR was certainly welcome, especially since the price stayed the same...Full Review Here
