National Geographic : Five ways to use the Web
The Web has become an infinite photo gallery where we can show our best shots without stepping anywhere near a printer or photo lab.
Increasingly, cyberspace is also where photographers go to learn technique and stay current.
But browsers beware. "A lot of the advice and opinions you get on the Internet is just plain off," says photographer Bob Krist. "Anyone can put up a slick-looking website.
I want to take my advice from someone who's making a living making pictures." With that in mind, Traveler asked some two dozen photographers—mostly professionals—to reveal their favorite hangouts in cyberspace. .Full Article..Here

The Guy I never met Gifted me a Pro account
Dr. Keats's MySpace
Blurbs About me:
Melbourne-based nitwit with a rather sad interest in old TV and radio.
A notable non-achiever in many and varied areas:
* Co-authored a book on Aussie TV quiz and game shows which no-one bought, and just had another one published - this one's in America, meaning I'm now being abjectly ignored by a bigger audience than ever before...
* Presenter of radio programs which no-one listens to - on three stations, no less: 88.6 Plenty Valley FM, 96.5 Inner FM, and Deluxe UK,
* Uploads photos to a Flickr account which no-one visits:
Yep he first responded to me in a thread in The Help Forum
on flickr's payment options. Since I don't have a Checking,Savings account or Credit Cards and none of my friends in the building Yahoo I was at an impasse.
Out of the Sky Blue Downunder I recieved an email from him with a gifted Pro account activation. I was floored that a stranger that I never even talked to in the threads gifted me in such a suprised way.
And He is even a Canonite! befriending a Nikonian such as me. Well maybe there is still hope in the world. Thanks much again Dr. Keats' and happy shooting.

Understanding the Digital Unsharp Mask
Apparently, I have not been alone in feeling that the digital implementation of Unsharp Mask (USM) was one of the great mysteries of the universe.
The USM dialogue has three sliders — Amount, Radius, Threshold. They all have an effect, but finding an optimal setting seemed a hit and miss process because one never knew quite what the sliders were actually doing....Full HowTo Here

Your Camera Does Matter - A Rebuttal
One of the most annoying questions on the web is seen when someone on a forum asks – Should I get a Whatsiflex or a Thingabobblad? Which is better? The problem is not with the questions. The problem is the answers!..Read Article Here

Sigma 50mm f/1.4: A new standard?
Sigma bolsters its top-end EX range with the announcement of a HSM focusing-motor-equipped 50mm f/1.4 lens.
Offering a moderate telephoto field of view on APS-C cameras, Sigma's DG designation means it will also work as a standard lens on full-frame digital cameras.
We believe this is the first time a 50mm f/1.4 lens has been offered with a ring-type focus motor. Pricing and availability information to follow as soon as we have it.

Lightroom - Using the Spot Remove Tool
The Remove Spot tool is actually two tools; one a cloning tool and the other a healing tool. The difference between the cloning and healing tools is that the cloning tool clones the pixels from one area to another and the healing tool uses the pixels surrounding the area being healed to make a better blend.
Since the blending process may distort an edge or straight line near the area being healed it is best to use the cloning tool when removing a spot close to an edge and the healing tool the rest of the time...Full Article...Here

$300 Loss Shot.. My Story of Woe !
Went down stairs taking my camera with the 55-200vr on it. And was standing outside. Looking for interesting Pictures to take. And I took shot above.
And then an acquaintance that lived there came down and we were gabbing and talked a few minutes. As we walked back in I turned around to hold the door open for him he was picking up something from where I was standing when I took the shot.
And when we got back inside he unfolded three $100 bills. My heart sank to the very depths of blackness.
He grabbed the elevator and was gone. I was standing there kicking myself about 243 times and mumbling to myself.. Me with only another $154 to go for my siggy 1020.
Be Aware! Where thou Treads on the Path of Photography.
Thread I started so you can Cry with Me Brother's & Sister's
Update: Well it seems I had a St. Patrick's Day Prank pulled on me. As another person said no that a guy came by earlier to pay Tom who will go unnamed back the $300 he owed him.
So I was bamboozled,Flim-Flamed,pranked,punk'd,etc..
Usually I catch onto that stuff right away. But not this time he got me good. Sorry people for the misinformation on lost money thread.
Now...Hmmm!..Payback...Let's see....? Any Idea's ?

I am the Human that messed up this Aliens day. You should have seen his jaw hit the floor when I showed him the 300. It was like the song green tear drops falling from his eyes.

Nikon's SB-800
The Nikon Creative Lighting System
Wireless, Remote, Through-the-Lens Metered (iTTL) Flash!
Review posted: 07/31/2006
Nikon has been a leader in flash technology for photographers for quite some time. Their 3D matrix metered flash systems integrate distance information from the lens with exposure information from the camera to make fill-flash metering uniquely easy to control. In a very practical sense, the accuracy of 3D matrix flash metering means that the photographer can spend less time worrying about how to work around the vagaries of the flash system, and more time concentrating on his/her creative vision...Full Article...Here
