My Nikon D40X just died after a little over 27,000 shutter clicks. I am really sad because I didn't buy the extended warranty. Of course, the manufacturer's warranty ran out the month before.
My D40 still run perfectly after 34,839 shutter clicks.. Mostly i use D40 for casual snap or family shoot out.. i've shoot drift & rally with it.. but have to blow/brush the dust after the event..
over a 100,000 and it bit the dust

My D40's shutter died out on me in the middle of a wedding after 51,700+ shots, good thing I upgraded to a D300..
just shy of 20k and my d40 died...$200 estimate to repair....what to do

Shutter #31380, Shutter still alive but after the mirror/ shutter jammed for the first time in it's life. After about 4 tries it unjammed and took photos for throughout today.

Nikon refuses repair on guarantee. Guess my next camera will be a Canon after all.

My wife's D40 has just given up the ghost after an amazing 155,402 photos.
My NIKON D40X shutter died at approximately 60 000.
My NIKON D60 counts 95 740 today and still rocks and rolls :)
i got already 48721 clicks on my Nikon d40x, yet still fine counting more..
..almost 19000 and is still ok
53,300 clicks and still breathing. though some say it has problem on censor.
